This 4-week group is designed to help couples achieve
one of the most challenging tasks in life: creating and
sustaining a healthy, satisfying relationship.
Based on the
PREPARE/ENRICH program, t

one of five PREPARE/ENRICH

one hour to complete.
The group will then meet for four 2-hour sessions. Focusing on the results of the inventory, couples will
increase their awareness and understanding of key relationship issues and develop the interpersonal skills
and tools essential to strengthening their relationship.

PAIRS Weekend Relationship Workshops
Sustaining a pleasurable intimate relationship does not work by magic.  It depends upon a set of skills and
understanding that can be learned.

We learned most of what we know about intimate relationships through our early experiences in our
families.  Our personal history has a great deal of influence on what happens in our current relationships -
on our behavior, our feelings, our expectations.  If we become aware of these influences we can change
them.  It is important to sort through what we inherited, keeping what fits for today and changing what does
not.
PAIRS (Practical Application of Intimate Relationship Skills), developed by Lori H. Gordon, Ph.D., provides
a comprehensive system to enhance self-knowledge and to develop the ability to sustain pleasurable
intimate relationships.  Dr. Gordon's approach integrates a wide range of theories and methods from
psychology, education and psychotherapy and presents them in an educational format.

Several times per year I hold a
Passage to Intimacy couple's workshop.  Passage to Intimacy is a
two-day basic-skills workshop that is the most popular short workshop in the PAIRS program.

In the Passage to Intimacy workshop, couples will learn tools to:

                                         Build intimacy in their relationship
                                         Communicate effectively
                                         Actively listen to each other
                                         Problem-solve and fight fairly
Understand anger and express anger safely
                                         Engage in caring behaviors
                                         Remove barriers to emotional intimacy
Resolve unspoken assumptions and hidden expectations

The cost of the workshop is $400 per couple, which includes materials.  All couples are welcome to attend
this workshop, regardless of relationship status or sexual orientation.
